Attendee Information

Academic Participant (University Faculty, Researcher/Researcher Assistant, Post Doc, or other academic professional) - This group consists of members of the professional educational and research community who will be attending the meeting as participants. Please note that this category is not for student attendees, there is a separate option for students.  Lodging, breakfasts, lunches, refreshments, dinner on Wednesday, and transportation (if required) between Homewood Suites hotel and the meeting location, as well as any possible tour sites will all be paid for by Unidata. A $50 registration fee will be required.

Invited Speaker/Presenter - This group consists of members of the educational and research community who will be attending the meeting as presenters. These are invited speakers or presenters by Unidata or the Users Committee.  Lodging, breakfasts, lunches, refreshments, dinner on Wednesday, and transportation (if required) between Homewood Suites hotel and the meeting location, as well as any possible tour sites will all be paid for by Unidata. The $50 registration fee will be waived.

Federal Government Employee – This group consists of registrants that work for a federal agency.  Due to travel reimbursement constraints for federal employees, travel coverage will be handled on a case by case basis. Please contact Tina Campbell with any questions at 303-497-8639. A $50 registration fee will be required.

Unidata Staff – This group consists of Unidata employees only.  Lunches, refreshments, and dinner on Wednesday will be paid for by Unidata and the $50 registration fee will be waived.

NCAR/UCAR Staff – This group consists of employees of UCAR/NCAR and most likely work in the Boulder area.  Breakfasts, lunches, refreshments, and dinner on Wednesday will be paid for by Unidata. A $50 registration fee will be required.

Users Committee Member – This group consists of members of the Unidata Users Committee, whom is putting this workshop together.  Our Users Committee helps to steer the direction of Unidata. Committee members will have their travel paid in full, much the same as when they attend committee meetings. The registration fee will be waived for committee members.

Student – This group consists of all students that wish to attend the workshop.  Lunches and dinner on Wednesday will be provided for all participants. Students are required to pay a $50 non-refundable registration fee. Unidata is offering $550 per student to help defray travel costs for the workshop for up to ten (10) qualified graduate students. We will give funding preference to those graduate students who are interested in pursuing careers in geoscience education. For information on the application process, please see: www.unidata.ucar.edu/events/2009UsersWorkshop/Graduate_Student_Announcement.pdf

Although Unidata will not be paying for students' hotel room, we can include you in our block of rooms at Homewood Suites by Hilton - Boulder. The cost per night is $105, but keep in mind we are providing ground transportation between this hotel and the workshop location each day at no charge. If you would like to stay at Homewood Suites, please contact either Tina Campbell at 303-497-8639 or Ginger Emery at 303-497-8643.

The reason for giving students a stipend instead of directly paying for your hotel room is to leave the option to the student to find a less expensive hotel, find someone to room share, or stay with any friends/family in town and be able to apply the $550 towards the cost of your flight or other expenses.

Other (i.e., .org or .com) – This group consists of those registrants that do not work for a university or fall under any of the previous categories.  You will be responsible for arranging and covering all of your travel expenses. However, Unidata will supply all lunches and snacks during the workshop hours, as well as your meal on Wednesday evening during the reception.
