Unidata folks,

Any idea why gribtocdl does a "floating exception" on the
attached file?

I've got the latest decoders, decoders-3.0.3.

Richard,

I didn't have a problem running gribtocdl on the grib.3 file, it created
the cdl ok. The cdl file is attached. But the GDS data section didn't
seem correct. The values for Di and Dj increments seem to be to large for
the La1, Lo1, La2, and Lo2 values. gribdump output:

                    GDS Ni : 234
                    GDS Nj : 272
                   GDS La1 : -24.000000
                   GDS Lo1 : -5.000000
                   GDS La2 : -7.063000
                   GDS Lo2 : 9.563000
                    GDS Di : 65.535004
                    GDS Dj : 65.535004

ie longitude distance is 14.563 with an increment of 65.535004, resulting
in only one grid point. I checked the NCEP page for lat/lon grids and
there doesn't seem to be an special processing for the Di/Dj values. It
states the units should be the same fo La1, Lo1, La2, Lo2, Di and Dj
values. Am I missing something here?

Robb...

FYI, wgrib works ok:
