Just to clarify, from Ron:
"This patch does *not* affect the GUI functionality. The GUIs have their own
message handling (ie they're more than just wrappers to the GEMPAK plotting
functions) that we didn't get into at all. The speedPatch mods affect only
programs that call the gemplt executable (and xw as well, but that's just a
faster event handling loop that I didn't mention in the original email)."
But, I may add, it does specifically enhance the speed of CGI scripts, python
apps, and Ron's ActiveGEM perl application.
