OMG, it worked!  Thanks Steve!

I'll have to put together a little cheat sheet for others while it's still
fresh in my memory. Also, I have not tested the entire suite of GEMPAK
programs, but at least the map problem is gone.  At work tilk 12am but will
maybe type something up later
