Hi Neil - you can monitor the dir the grib data is pulled into.  Given the max 
fhr per model, you can not only tell when that has arrived, but compare it to 
previous runs to get an average arrival time, and hence prior to the arrival of 
the last grib file, estimate when the run will fully arrive.   You can write a 
straightforward script to do this.    We post this on an internal web site.
