I noticed some missing tiles yesterday. I'm feeding from both UNL and SSEC.

Has anyone else noticed whole tiles missing from TIRC? There should be 30 tiles
per scan but the majority of the time I can barely scrape together 25.

I've confirmed that I'm not receiving these missing tiles from NOAAPORT. Just
looking to confirm that I'm not the only one having this issue.

Thanks Stonie, this is another disturbing report of the reality we are
presented with in this era.

The proposed increase in the military budget of a reported $54 Billion (a 10%
increase of the ~$540 Billion annual budget) will take some significant slices
from the annual budgets of:
NOAA: $5.6 Billion - all of DOC is $14.6 Billion with proposed 18% cut coming.
EPA: $8.14 Billion
NASA: $19.3 Billion (about 0.5% of federal budget)

Perhaps the whole Dept. of Education will be eliminated, which would free-up
~$68 Billion, of which ~50% is Pell Grants and Federal Direct Student Loans.
(That would have a potential negative impact on higher education, as a whole,
said the university professor.)

It is disturbing that the cuts to NESDIS might be due to a report of good
research that Congressional "leaders" did not like. We do not get to pick our
facts in life.

The last paragraph sums up the, nearly complete, disconnect between the
campaign rhetoric and the actual actions. These cuts cannot possibly lay down
a path to improve our forecasts and economic support that they currently
provide to our businesses. Of course, this might be deliberate. If you make
it impossible for the federal agencies to do what we want/need/expect them to
do, you can then make the argument that the effort should be privatized. I see
a proposal to eliminate the NWS coming down the road. It has been suggested in
previous times, but it never could not get through Congress in the past. There
is a short-term window of potential significant actions .

Sorry for the politicking here, but we need to be advocates for what we believe
in. If not us, the users of the information who can appreciate the impacts,
then who?

Thanks for your ear (or eyes, as the case may be),

Chris Herbster
