I’m trying to read KNMI’s HDF5 satellite files with toolsUI (from the
4.0.46 release)
Most files work, but some files (let’s say 1 in 5) fail with the error
message:
NetcdfDataset.open cant open file.h5
HDF should equal HEAP
Debug info in toolsUI suggests that decoding the HDF5 has been
(partly) up to the point where the error is found.
Could you take a look at this file?
As the file is very large I’ll make it available via www.knmi.nl

Hi Ernst:
That particular file appears to be damaged:
$ h5dump -H MET9_IR.h5
h5dump error: internal error (file h5dump.c:line 4354)
can you report to the hdf5 support group and see what they have to say?
