Thank you, Clay. I ran a "make clean" and then started anew with another ./configure. Seems to this newbie that if make is not resulting in the correct executable files then there is something wrong with the config. I've attached my configure.out, which contains some error messages that I have no idea how to fix.

Being new to this stuff isn't helping.
