Actually, the problem is with the
test.opendap.org:8080 server; it is down for
now. I suggest you configure with
--disable-dap-remote-tests for now and
try again later.

This results in the following errors in ‘make check’ (as it expected
a .nc file instead of that HTML code):
syntax error, unexpected SCAN_WORD, expecting SCAN_ATTR or SCAN_DATASET
or SCAN_ERROR
Error: NetCDF: Malformed or inaccessible DAP DDS
FAIL: test_vara
Maybe if there were an offline version of the files and means for
the check play only offline tests, this could be better. Also, ou ‘cute’
NOC puts the supercomputing environment without internet access so such
checks can never be done if we do a personal install on these systems.
