[netcdfgroup] netcdf 4.1.2 opendap url with authentication fails

Hi -
I'm finding that authentication by embedding a username and password is still not working in NetCDF4.1.3. See this message,

where a response says only that it had been working in 4.1.1 with at least some versions of curl. Is there any news about this?
