The NOAA National Weather Service MicroART upper air system at Slidell, Louisiana (WMO # 72233), will be decommissioned on or about February 22, 2008, and installation of the new Radiosonde Replacement System (RRS) will begin. No upper air observations will be provided from this office while RRS is being installed.
Beginning March 3, 2008, or shortly thereafter, upper air observations will be issued using the RRS and GPS Mark IIA Sippican radiosondes.
