The NOAA National Weather Service MicroART upper air system at Anchorage, Alaska (WMO# 70273), will be decommissioned on or about July 11, 2008, and installation of the new Radiosonde Replacement System (RRS) will begin. No upper air observations will be provided from this office while RRS is being installed.
Beginning July 21, 2008, or shortly thereafter, upper air observations will be issued using the RRS and GPS Mark IIA Sippican radiosondes.
