[nws-changes] 20090107: GOES 12 returns!

NOTE: The nws-changes mailing list is no longer active. The list archives are made available for historical reasons.

As planned, NESDIS Office of Satellite Operations (OSO) and Office of Satellite Data Processing and Distribution (OSDPD) have recovered GOES-12 as the operational GOES-East satellite, located at 75 Degrees West longitude. As of 1500 UTC January 6, 2009, all product processing was switched to GOES-12, and all products have been produced successfully.

Users receiving GVAR directly from GOES-12 should be receiving GOES-12 imager and sounder data. GOES-12 is currently running the GOES-East "Routine" mode http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/GOES/EAST/sched.html

Users who may have been obtaining GOES-13 GVAR directly from GOES-13 at 105 degrees West are recommended to switch back to GOES-12 for their operational needs.

Thank you for your patience during this extended time period. If there are further questions or concerns, please let us know. This will be the last planned message on this incident.
