The NOAA National Weather Service MicroART upper air system at Topeka, Kansas (WMO# 72456), was decommissioned on March 27, 2009, and installation of the new Radiosonde Replacement System (RRS) began. Beginning April 6, 2009, upper air observations were issued using the RRS and GPS Mark IIA Sippican radiosondes.
