NWS FAX CHART USERS FROM RTH WASHINGTON DATA MANAGEMENTThe legacy IUST and IUSX upper-air BUFR messages will be decommissioned and no longer be transmitted after February 8th 2010. On March 07, 2007, the NWS issued Technical Implementation Notice 07-16 announcing the implementation of the new Radiosonde Replacement System (RRS). Sounding data from the new RRS system have increased number of data levels and additional data from the 31313, 41414, and 51515 groups.
Announced on July 10, 2007, the NWSTG made these new data products available by transmitting two new BUFR messages in addition to the legacy IUST and IUSX products. After more than two years of parallel production, the legacy IUST and IUSX products will be decommissioned.
The first new product, which uses the same BUFR descriptors as the legacy products but with the replication factors increased to reflect the increased data levels, uses the following WMO headings:

0-13-047 for encoding stability index for the 10164 group.0-11-054 and 0-11-055 for 1500-3000m mean winds speed and direction for the 10194 group.
0-35-035 for reasons for termination.
