The Next Generation Weather Radar (NEXRAD) agencies have approved
the network-wide deployment of the WSR-88D (Weather Surveillance
Radar-1988, Doppler) Dual Polarization modification. The full
deployment phase of the project is scheduled to begin Sep 12,
2011.  Please note the following information concerning the
installations:

The status of the sites completed to date and installations
planned for the next month is posted under the title

Each WSR-88D will be inoperable for approximately 12 days during
the modification.  Sites will issue a Public Information
Statement and a Free Text Message before turning off the legacy
system.  Another Free Text Message will be issued when the Dual
Polarization modification is complete and the radar is placed
back in operation.

Transmission of Level II Dual Polarization data will begin when
the modfication is completed.  Initially, Level III Dual
Polarization products will not be transmitted.  The Dual
Polarization products will generally be added to Level III
product transmission during the first Tuesday through  Thursday
work day after the modification completion.
