Re: [thredds] Irregular grids

It doesn't matter it's grid or ugrid for TDS in terms of basic DAP data
access. That has been said, a lot of functionalities of TDS, such as
aggregation, assume the data structures in the netcdf file is in the regular
grid.

As for creating a 'ugrid' netcdf, it's out of the scope of TDS. The UGRID
conventions tool Kyle got involved serves this purpose pretty well. You may
want to take a look on existing 'ugrid' netcdf files and see if the
structure could work out for your purpose.

Hi Kyle:

Is there existing code to write to ugrid? And is Ugrid and add-on to
thredds or out of the box?

Thanks,

-Roy

format". The data is stored in an HDF file as a VData - basically one long
array or table if you want. The reason it is done this way is the "grid" is
irregular, that is each row has a varying number of columns. I can read the
data fine in python, but I am trying to find out what options I have for
serving it. Clearly one option is to grid the data at a somewhat coarser
resolution, and i might do that. But my questions are:

to someone not familiar with what is going on (basically we deal with
unsophisticated users, it must be real clear what is being returned to
them).
