FSL Central Facility move schedule

FSL staff and data users,

The FSL Central Facility will be moved to the David Skaggs
Research Center (DSRC) during the week of April 19. Because of
system and network redundancy, it is expected that the operation
of the laboratory mail and DNS servers will not be interrupted.
However, with a move of this magnitude, possible outages are a
fact of life.

Prior to the Central Facility move, starting early in the week of
April 12, the NOAAPORT NWS Telecommunications Gateway (TG) and
GOES-West data channels will not be available. The NOAAPORT GOES-
East channel will be kept up as long as possible, but not later
than April 20. NOAAPORT data will remain unavailable until the
Satellite Broadcast Network (SBN) antenna is moved from RL-3 to
DSRC by the contractor sometime during the middle of April.

The FSL Mass Store System (MSS) will be taken down on Monday,
April 19.

The data-processing capability of the FSL Central Facility will
stop on Tuesday, April 20.

The FSL server, bora, will go down on Thursday, April 22. This
will impact FSL's home page, anonymous FTP and other lab-wide
services.

It is our goal to have the Central Facility back up by Friday,
April 23.

Please remember that while your division's servers and desktops
are moved, your direct access to mail will not be available.
However, the lab mail server will save your mail messages and
will send them to your division server when it comes up.

Thanks,

Peter Mandics
