For a more complete description of the data available from the SSEC
archive site, please review:

Unidata WWW HomePage
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu
  Access to Archived Data
  http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/data/recovery.html
    Unidata-Wisconsin Archive
    http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/data/unirec.html

In short:

o the .antarctic files are composites of multiple satellites over
  Antarctica

o .raobman files are McIDAS MDXX files of mandatory level upper air data

o .raobsig files are McIDAS MDXX files of significant level upper air data

>Thanks!
