20000223: creating McIDAS MD files from archived text (cont.)

The data is there, so it should be fine, but...

Probably not.  All non-imagery data was removed from the
Unidata-Wisconsin datastream back on July 1, 1999.  The stuff available
from the archive is what actually went out in the broadcast (or was
supposed to go out), so there won't be any MD stuff to put in the
archive.

Make sure to FTP the files in binary mode!

I tried to read the files but could not. Hey, I just went and down
loaded some other historical data from SSEC and will use that for my
lab this week (The reason I wanted the data in the first place).

It would be nice to be able to get this type of data from SSEC. I guess
this is just another reason to learn GEMPAK and forget McIDAS.
