Teresa,

The write error is usually the result of not enough disk space to write
the data to the netcdf file.  Since the gribtonc allocates all the space
for the next record at one time, the original netcdf file will be created
but the data cannot be entered because of space limitations.  I would run
gribtonc from the command line from the ldm home dir as user ldm. A good
rule of thumb is that the netcdf file is 8-10 larger then the original
grib files.  So a 8meg file ends up to be 80 mgs netcdf, this is the
biggest drawback of netcdf.
