Glenn,

If you use 5.6 with an uncompressed NIDS file, GEMPAK will expect that
there is no WMO or pil before the NIDS product starts. This is the
way we previously received NIDS from WSI (eg notheing that looked like a 
FOS header before the start of the data).

In 5.6a, I added 2 things. First was the ability to read the zlib
compressed products, and second was the ability to skip past the WMO
and PIL lines for the images posted on the weather.noaa.gov ftp server.

If necessary, you can use the unix "tail" command to strip off the 
leading fos looking stuff.
