I provided the web page:

There is an example of combining the radar grid with the RUC grids
to create precipitation type masks:

I also mentioned that the nts restore products used in NMAP2 are
in the $NMAP_RESTORE/radar/nexr/ directory.
The restore file will show the settings that you would use in gdplot2
to produce the plot. That should be a good guage for your script.
In gdplot2 you can use the restore file and just update
the fields like PROJ, GAREA and DEVICE for your plot.
