20021002: searching for map background

Ken,

This doesn't look like you are using the $GEMMAPS/programs/Makefile
which should be sourceing $CONFIGDIR/Makeinc.common. Or, you haven't
sourced the $NAWIPS/Gemenviron file prior to building.

The compile line for AIX GEMPAK 5.6.h should look something similar to:

xlf -qnolm -o gsfssf gsfssf.f -I${GEMPAK}/include -I${GEMPAK}/include/AIX \
   ${GEMLIB}/gemlib.a  ${GEMLIB}/appl.a  ${GEMLIB}/syslib.a  ${GEMLIB}/gemlib.a


where the environmental variables GEMPAK and GEMLIB are defined when you source 
Gemenviron.
