If that is the case, make sure you don't have a datatype.tbl file hanging 
around in your working
directory that would be found before the $GEMTBL/config/datatype.tbl file is 
searched.
Also, search for any "tab" characters in your datatype.tbl file which would 
throw off the
table reading part of the library code.
