20041202: DVB-S Conversion to GRIB2/JPEG2000 - does this affect CONDUIT?

Pete,

The GRIB2 on NOAAPORT & DVB-S is only for those products being transmitted
using WMO headers beginning with ^[LM]. Whereas grib products
beginning with ^[HOYZ] are GRIB1. This isn't an immediate change of all
data to GRIB2 with the change over to DVB-S. Rather, as NWS adds new products to
the NWSTG2 channel, they will likely be GRIB2. That said, NWS still has
commitments on many products to maintain them in GRIB1 for some
time to come. NWS will announce any changes as they occur.

The DVB-S distribution will carry a number of "channels", including
the GOES-E, GOES-W, NWSTG and OCONUS channels currently on NOAAPORT,
as well as the NWSTG2 channel which is being implemented on DVB-S
for testing now.

The GRIB2 products currently available on DVB-S are those added
as channel "NWSTG2", eg ETA218 and DGEX. HRS does carry
some NDFD grids in GRIB2 already.

The NEW CONDUIT products .5 degree GFS are in GRIB2.
