20050518:IDD latency ULM->SRCC

Hi Adam,

I am seeing a few things going on:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/rtstats/iddstats_nc?UNIWISC+tornado.geos.ulm.edu

This is odd:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/rtstats/iddstats_nc?IDS|DDPLUS+tornado.geos.ulm.edu

I suspect you have some requests aggregated together, could you please
send in your request lines from your ldmd.conf.

Here it looks as if some sort of "packet shaping" [or something odd] was
occurring up to about 16Z on the 16th...looks pretty good now.

Do you recall any changes to your system around 16Z on the 16th?

Also, your clock is off, you have negative latencies...please implement
NTP.

Are you requesting from stokes as a "PRIMARY" feed or as an "ALTERNATE"

"ALTERNATE" requests utilize a far less efficient protocol..

I would set your clock and I will investigate the situation at LSU, they
have been changing some machines around so am not sure where it is best
for you to feed from currently via LSU...

Ok, it is:

pavan.srcc.lsu.edu

..so lets continue with requesting from LSU via "pavan" as your PRIMARY
feed, and we will look into the WMO feed from OU..which we think may be
the "issue"..

Remember to stop and start your ldm after editing your ldmd.conf file to
make this change.

Cheers,

Jeff
