20050617: GFS Data

Hi Jordan,

Apologies for the delay in response, I also got the one you sent to
support, and have talked w/Tom Yoksas as well.

We prioritize our support to universities and research groups.

I am including some comments from e-mail exchanges we had in the summer of
2003: (they are still valid).

Jeff,

Thank you for your reply, and your guidance.

My location is in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, which is halfway between
Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL. The national headquarters of NEMAS is
located in Boston, Massachusetts.

I am looking to ingest PPS, DDS, and/or HDS if possible. ACARS data may
also benefit my operation.

Jordan,

I understand that you have been in contact with Jeff Weber from
Unidata, and have been told that we can make no guarantees as to
the operational availablity of the data, and that we/you need
to be careful to not compete with the private sector in any way.

I'm willing to give you a data feed provided you understand and
agree to the above.

You are interested in the DDPLUS and HDS feeds, correct? (DDPLUS is
DDS+PPS)

I can see the 211 (Q) grids there currently, but do understand your
frustration.


Again, for organizations such as yours, we suggest that you partner with a
local university, hopefully on a quid-pro-quo basis that is mutually
beneficial, to obtain your desired data. To see who is ingesting what
types of data you can visit:

Took a look at your WISCWX site, looks good!

We would like to open up all our servers to everyone, but resources do not
allow us to do so.
