Very good. The person(s) who setup that system should be able to help you
out while you setup yours.

DNS looks good for this machine:

% nslookup vv1.arc.nasa.gov
Server: localhost
Address: 127.0.0.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: vv1.arc.nasa.gov
Address: 128.102.147.81

% nslookup 128.102.147.81
Server: localhost
Address: 127.0.0.1

Name: vv1.arc.nasa.gov
Address: 128.102.147.81

OK, this is easily doable.

Data request entries are made in ~ldm/etc/ldmd.conf. Entries for processing
data that is received are made in ~ldm/etc/pqact.conf. The online LDM training
workshop materials should help you understand the kinds of configurations you
will need to make.

As soon as youget your LDM built and installed, please check to make sure that
you can get the data you are interested in from the UCSD IDD relay,
aeolus.ucsd.edu.
This is most easily done as follows:

<as 'ldm'>
cd ~ldm

ldmping aeolus.ucsd.edu

notifyme -vxl- -f NNEXRAD -o 3600 -h aeolus.ucsd.edu

etc.

The 'ldmping' will tell you if you can contact the UCSD machine and if its LDM
is
running. If this goes well, the 'notifyme' will inform you of what products the
UCSD machine is receiving on the feed (-f <feed name>) you are asking about.

> Thanks for your time.

No worries.

Cheers,

Tom
