Hi Patrick,

Sorry for the slow reply...

One thing to remember about CONDUIT: it is a _very_ high volume feed especially
if you are getting the global GFS. The approach that most sites are forced
to take is to split their feed requests into mutually-exclusive subsets of
the data that they want to get. This helps get around a TCP/IP backoff
limitation
for sending data in a single request.

Question:

- what are your feed REQUEST(s) to TAMU and UW?

What would be helpful is for you to send us your ~ldm/etc/ldmd.conf file.

We (Unidata Program Center) are not funded to provide data feeds to private
or commercial entities. Breaking that rule might have significant consequences
wrt our funding from NSF, so we really don't want to go there.

The sites you are feed CONDUIT from (TAMU and UW) are a couple of the best
connected sites in the Unidata community. If you are having problems in
getting CONDUIT data from them in a timely manner, it is likely that either
or both of the following are true:

- your network "pipe" is not big enough to handle the volume of data being
  requested

- your feed REQUEST(s) need to be "split"

re:

Yup, like I said, these sites are really well connected to the
Internet/Internet2.
There are no sites that are better in the university community (and who would
be willing to feed you).

Here is a TIN regarding this:

CHANGE NOTICE NO 12701
EFFECTIVE DATE OCTOBER 4 2011

[12701] ON THE ABOVE EFFECTIVE DATE ALL NCEP RUC13 GRID PRODUCTS
ON THE SBN/NOAAPORT WILL BE EXTENDED TO EIGHTEEN [18] HOURS
FORECAST TIME.

I hope that this helps!

Cheers,

Tom
