Very good.

I am not exactly sure what you mean by "double check the servers".

If you mean check to see that there is forward and reverse DNS for
the machines, then my answers are included below each machine...

There is no reverse (IP to name) DNS for frankenstein:

% nslookup 163.178.127.26
;; Got SERVFAIL reply from 128.117.140.62, trying next server
;; Got SERVFAIL reply from 128.117.140.62, trying next server
Server: 128.117.140.56
Address: 128.117.140.56#53

** server can't find 26.127.178.163.in-addr.arpa: SERVFAIL

re:

% nslookup 163.178.110.222
Server: 128.117.140.62
Address: 128.117.140.62#53

** server can't find 222.110.178.163.in-addr.arpa.: NXDOMAIN

What do you want me to check for 200.9.33.37 ?

Creating entries in /etc/hosts on each node of our LDM toplevel
relay cluster, idd.unidata.ucar.edu, is certainly possible, but it
creates a setup that is hard to maintain and is not flexible. We
would _much_ rather that the machines that we feed have forward
AND reverse DNS.

I am setting up a fictitious entry in /etc/hosts on all of the nodes of
the idd.unidata.ucar.edu cluster and making sure that idd.ucr.ac.cr
is ALLOWed to REQUEST IDD feeds:

200.9.33.42 idd.ucr.ac.cr

I can not guarantee how long we can maintain this entry, so you should
immediately contact the UCR network administrators and get them to
setup forward AND reverse DNS for this machine.

OK.

re:

What are you asking for? Open questions like this could take hours
of time since there are so many things going on. After all, we
have over 15 projects that are ongoing here in Unidata.

Cheers,

Tom
