Very good!

Excellent!

re:

The above listings indicate that the LDM is correctly installed!

er:

I agree, but there is one thing you can do right now to test
to see if the LDM should work: rerun the 'notifyme' tests:

<as 'ldm'>

- first, modify the <hostname> entry in ~ldm/etc/registry.xml
so that the value looks like a fully qualified hostname

If the entry is _not_ a fully-qualified hostname, I suggest
  changing it to:

  nexradVM.chicago.edu

Quite frankly, the easiest way to make the <hostname> change
to ~ldm/etc/registry.xml is to simply edit the file using your
favorite text editor (e.g., vi, emacs, nano, etc.). Make the
  <hostname> entry look like:

  <hostname>nexradVM.chicago.edu</hostname>

- next, run the notifyme tests that I suggested previously:

notifyme -vl- -f NEXRAD2 -h idd.unidata.ucar.edu

notifyme -vl- -f WMO -h gale.unidata.ucar.edu

I will address the changes needed to make LDM logging work
under Ubuntu in a follow-up email.

Why later?

I am at home right now, and I do not have access to a machine
running Ubuntu (we are basically a RedHat shop in that all
instances of Linux that we run are RedHat variants), and
I can't remember the specific names of the system files that
need to be modified. At work, I have access to a machine
(a single board Odroid U3) running Lubuntu where I worked
out how to make LDM logging work. I will send the follow-up
email when I get into work and have reviewed the steps that
are needed.

Cheers,

Tom
