[IDD #XDY-341129]: Question on NAM 3km, NBM, and GOES-17 data

Hi,

re:

The IDD does not (yet) have the NAM 3km or the NBM, but it does have GOES-17
imagery.

re:
> How can we find out and configure correctly to get them into our system?

The IDD feed NIMAGE has GOES-17 imagery in the format supported by AWIPS
(SCMI). A quick comparison of the volume of NIMAGE data that is available
in the IDD and what your LDM machine is receiving shows that you are receiving
all of the data that is available, and, since NIMAGE contains both GOES-16
and GOES-17 SCMI imagery, you are getting all of the data. If it is not
showing up in CAVE menus, then there is likely some configuration modification
needed on your EDEX server.

Here is the comparison I am referring to:

I sent a note to one of our AWIPS developers, Shay Carter, asking if she
has any idea of why you are unable to display the GOES-17 imagery in CAVE when
pointing at your own EDEX server given that you are receiving all of the data
already.

We believe that your inability to view GOES-17 imagery when pointing at your own
EDEX server is an indication that something is not setup correctly on your
EDEX server. Please open a new/existing inquiry with our AWIPS group by
sending email to address@hidden.

No worries.

Cheers,

Tom
