Hi Steven,
           This is the project I have been working on for past few months (off 
and on). The critical peace is adding the calibration information to the 
imagery data, and the calibration information 
and algorithm are different for every satellite, it could be very complicated. 
This is a big project and it will benefit our community and broader satellite 
community. I hope to get some resources 
from SSEC to involve and the steering committee should play a role here.  I am 
currently working on the GOES dataset and I will keep you post for my progress.
