Robb,

I'm part way there already. I noticed that the queue was being
increased, so I've got it up at 120 Mb. I'll reboot before I leave
today.

We haven't had any OS changes recently. Over winter break, I had
upgraded to 6.5 (or rather, replaced our old R2000/3000 machine that was
running irix 5.3 with an R4000 with more memory, and installed irix 6.5
on that. I had been running the ldm binary from the 5.3 machine with no
problem since then, until maybe the last week or two when it started
crashing a lot. I recompiled the ldm under 6.5 and it was fine
for like a week and then crashed again, and has been crashing
regularly since.

Anyways, it's been up for over an hour now with the bigger queue size,
maybe the changes at NCEP of late with product headers, etc, are sending
more data through and aggrivating a problem that was always there, but
less likely to be activated?

I'll keep an eye on it and let you know how it's going. If it gets
really bad, I do have another sgi that I am planning to use as a
dedicated data server for our synoptic lab. It will have the ldm on
it, I could use it as a temporary spare while I figure this one out.

Thanks for the advice!

Pete
