Re: 19990608: new unidata ldm server for ACARS

Steve,

Thanks for the info. We understand the problems with changing
something as fundamental as the feedtype list in LDM. Just so you
understand, FSL is severely limited in distributing data due to our
agreements with our data sources. While many of our datasets are
similar or the same to IDD, we cannot use those more generic feedtypes
because our sources are different. Our ability to control who we
could distribute particular data to thru LDM was severely hampered
when the feature to specify the data ID was removed from the
upstream server in the upgrade from v4 to v5. Is there any chance
of that feature ever returning when you guys can finally get back in
the development mode? Anyway, if you ever get to a point when you can
play with the feedtype assignments, keep us in mind to possibly get
a few more from you. As you know, FSL relies heavily on LDM for
our data distribution, both within and outside. We really appreciate
all the support you've provided us.
