If I had not been a Unix novice 2 years ago I probably would
have gone with FreeBSD as well from what I have read, but
at that time it was not a supported Unidata platform, and
I needed to get up and going quickly.  I am happy with
Solaris and don't want to change, but FreeBSD seems to 
be faster than Solaris and much more rugged and stable
than Linux.  We are going the opposite route as most 
Unidata sites in transitioning to Sparc hardware.
