All of the above are consistent with an EXTREMELY bad connection to
striker and vortex. Do you have the traceroute(1) utility? If so, what
does it indicate about the connections to the two upstream hosts?

The above indicates that the LDM requesting from vortex quit because
it wasn't able to connect to vortex in any fashion.  Arguably, it
shouldn't quit so easily and I'm going to see what can be done to the
code.

It would explain why you didn't received IDS|DDPLUS data, but not why
the connection is so bad.
