Jimmy,

Dave Fulker forwarded the following note from you to support:

>Hello Dr. David!
>
> Long time whithout to tell you hello, eh?
>
> Well here in the University a lot of things has be done since my
>participation en the workshop in Colorado the last year, thank you
>again for your invitation, in this moment we
>are working with students using mcidas in a regular base in the study
>of the tropical meteorology, local climatology and some local research
>in forest fires.
> For this we are using Area files that we get from CIRA but now we
>started using gempak as a complement of the Mcidas analisys,
>Dr. Soley has been working with it the last few months with
>the asistance of Steve Chiswell. What we want to do now is to use the
>files from UNIDATA using LDM, I have setup my machine for download
>files from thelma but I have not permision for it, I gess is because
>I have one IP that is not the one that is allowed in thelma. I do
>not remember the name of the person who helped us in the 1999
>workshop with LDM, I think his name or last name was something like
>kambic but I am not sure, so I really really will apreciate if you
>can point me with him in order of to correct the info of my machine
>in thelma.

We forwarded this request to Jeff Weber. He should be getting back
to you (probably already has gotten back to you) on IDD access.

>Also I want to update the distribution of Mcidas to 7.7
>but I went to ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu and there is not nothing of
>the packages that I am searching for, I still have the username and
>the password that Dr. Tom Yoksas got to me the last year but is
>useless in this moment.

The user name and password for the McIDAS FTP account has not changed
in a year, so you may simply have the wrong one. The correct information
is:

machine: ftp.unidata.ucar.edu
user: umcidas
pass: XXXXXX

Unidata McIDAS-X 7.7 is not yet available for download, but it should be
in the next few days. I see that you are subscribed to the Unidata
mcidas-x email list under with the following address:

address@hidden

If this is correct, you will receive email announcing the availability of
Unidata McIDAS-X 7.7 by next week.

If this address is not valid, please visit:

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/mailinglist/mailing-list-form.html

and unsubscribe the previous, incorrect email address and resubscribe
to mcidas-x with your current, correct one.

>Dr. Fulker, I will apreciate very much all the help that you can
>provide me with this two things for this time.
>
>Thank you in advance and I hope you can visit us again in the short
>time here at the University of Costa Rica.
>
>Sincerely, JImmy
