Hi Luis,

>Thank you for your instructions:

No worries.

>Now the users can see the images they want, sometimes they need to go
>manually (mcidas command line editor) but they know how to use it.

Is that because the dataset containing the images they want to look
at is not supported in the MCGUI? If yes, the MCGUI can be configured
to support other datasets.

>One
>more question, the researcher want to make an intercative web page so
>people can acces this page to see the images through the internet.
>There is any script available that can show the images in a web format
>(png,gif,jpg).

McIDAS has a command that will save a raster version of a displayed
image. The command, FRMSAVE, can save in a variety of formats:

HELP FRMSAVE
FRMSAVE -- Saves a McIDAS frame to a GIF, PPM, BMP, JPEG or PostScript file
   FRMSAVE frame name <keywords>
   FRMSAVE window name TYPE=COMBINE <keywords>
Parameters:
frame | image frame number to save (def=current)
window | combined window number (created with COMBINE command); the
range is 0-9; you must also specify TYPE=COMBINE with this
            option
name | name of the file in which to save the frame; if you don't
specify an extension, .GIF is appended if FORM=GIF, .PPM is
appended if FORM=PPM, .BMP is appended if FORM=BMP, .JPG is
appended if FORM=JPG, .PS is appended if FORM=PS, and .CPS
          is appended if FORM=CPS
Keywords:
 ...

Unfortunately, PNG is not one of the formats that FRMSAVE supports.

>All the images are in the ~mcidas/workdata and ~ldm/data
>directories??

Images can be anywhere you want, and they can reside on machines that
are accessible over TCP/IP Ethernet. As far as where the recommended
location for images ingested by the LDM from the UNIWISC IDD stream, it
is ~ldm/data/mcidas, or ~ldm/data/gempak/...

If folks there were looking at images from one of the 'GINI' datasets
(GINICOMP, GINIEAST, or GINIWEST), or from the GOESEAST dataset, they
were looking at holdings on servers in different parts of the country.

Cheers,

Tom
