Thanks for filling me in on that.  We would be very interested to keep up to date on what Unidata's plans look like, especially the CDM integration.

DAP4 is very much alive, but the java implementation is not much of a
priority for opendap.org, although they do bug fixes on it. They are
mostly working on their C++ sever code (Hyrax). Unidata has  been the
main support for the opendap Java library for the past several years. We
are currently talking about it's future - probably we will rewrite it to
be better integrated into our CDM software stack, and essentially take
ownership of it. We already have rewritten the opendap C library for
netcdf clients, so this would be continuing that path.
