[netCDF #WNT-817039]: reqest

Hi,

The problem indicated in config.log that casued the configure script to exit is
associated with the
message:

  configure:3273: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
  See `config.log' for more details.

In particular, the configure script looked for xlc, cc, c89, acc, and gcc, and
finding none of them,
it gave up looking for a C compiler.  If you have a different C compiler
installed somewhere that
you want to use, you should set the CC environment variable to its location
before invoking the
configure script.

In case you don't have a C compiler installed, you might be able to use a
binary distribution from

  ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/binary/linux_2.6-i686/netcdf-3.6.2.tar.gz

or one of the other more recent snapshots from that directory.
