[netCDF #LOK-342881]: make check fails

Sorry for the silence on this end. Have you found a solution to getting netCDF 
to work? I see you are trying to build the parallel version of netCDF - did you 
use this as a guide: 
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs/netcdf-install/parallel.html? 
Also, I'm not sure why your compiler failed when you used -O2. Did you use 
minus uppercase o 2 (-O2), or minus lowercase o 2 (-o2)? It should be with an 
uppercase O. When you compiled with the -fno-second-underscore flag, did the 
output from readelf -Ws show that the trailing underscore was removed?
