Re: Grib problem

hi bob:

attribute names can have embedded spaces. OTOH, theres no good reason why those 2 do. Is it a problem?

I am just now switching from netcdf-java 4.2 to 4.3.8.
When I read the attached .grib file,

1) I see that two global attributes
String Originating or generating Center "UK Meteorological Office [173] Exeter (RSMC)";
   String Originating or generating Subcenter "0";
which have spaces in the names of the attributes!
Is that what you intended? Is that allowed?

2) The first attribute above has character #173 (my diagnostic system displays it as [173]), a shy hyphen. If this is from a table that you have control of, wouldn't a regular hyphen be more appropriate?

Thank you for looking into this.
