The netcdf.inc file is used for the netCDF Fortran-77 interface, but the netcdf-4.2.1.1 software you have installed is only for the netCDF C interface and utilities. To build and install the netCDF Fortran library, you should download the netcdf-fortran-4.2 distribution from ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-fortran-4.2.tar.gz and follow these instructions: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/netcdf/docs/netcdf-fortran-install.html If you have problems with the netcdf-fortran-4.2 distribution, you may have better luck with the beta distribution: ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-fortran-4.4-beta1.tar.gz or with the newer daily snapshot: ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/snapshot/netcdf-fortran-4.4-daily.tar.gz which can also be built with the instructions referenced above.
