[netCDF #TRL-392354]: netcdf-4 build fails

Hi,

Great, that's progress!

If you're looking at all the changes between the netcdf-fortran-4.4.0 release
and the release candidate netcdf-fortran-4.4.1-rc1, then yes, there were many
modifications unrelated to the bug that caused the error you are now seeing,
many of them related to making the software build under Windows with cmake.

The modifications for just the error you are seeing are fairly small:

https://github.com/Unidata/netcdf-fortran/commit/72adb400d41b290a5f099e401ca3b5d22833f161

so you could probably apply them to the 4.4.0 release and get things working,
but we haven't tested that change in isolation. So I would instead recommend
just getting the 4.4.1-rc1 pre-release, by clicking "Download as a Zip file"
on the right of the page:

  https://github.com/Unidata/netcdf-fortran/tree/v4.4.1-rc1

Alternatively, you could wait for the 4.4.1 release, which will be available
soon (not sure how soon, but we don't plan another release candidate).
