[netCDF #XFT-464995]: Fwd: netcdf

Hello,

Not all data stored as netCDF4 can be represented or converted to a netCDF3
format. The netCDF4 file format was created to encapsulate the netCDF4
enhanced data model; this relies on features not available in netCDF3. The
best way to determine if the files can be converted is to try, however.

The utility 'nccopy' is a command-line utility distributed with the netCDF
library. You don't mention your platform but assuming it is linux, you should
be able to install it using your linux package manager. If you are on Windows,
you can download a pre-built set of binaries from
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs/winbin.html. Alternatively,
you can build the netCDF libraries/utilities using standard development tools.
Instructions for this are found at
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs.

I hope this helps, have a great day,

-Ward
