[netCDF #HAW-868287]: syntax error, unexpected WORD_WORD , expecting SCAN_ATTR or SCAN_DATASET or SCAN_ERROR

Progress. So, I ran this under centos 7 using Virtualbox.
It failed in the way you have seen. One thing I noticed
that differed between centos and cygwin was the version
of libcurl being used. The one that failed is using
a very old (7.29) version of libcurl, while cygwin is using
a much later version (7.45).

Can you check what version of curl you are using (try 'curl --version')?
