Chris,

Two things:

1) I know of several sites using either the Planetary Data, Inc system
or the one from Unisys. I have never heard any negative comments
about either. My impression is that the Planetary Data system is
very flexible, and it is designed to play nicely with Unidata "stuff"
(like the LDM and Unidata packages). This is not an endorsement
of PDI, however (we can't do that).

2) As part of a cooperative project between Unidata and COMET, I have
been looking into the possibility of installing NOAAPORT receive
systems in Central America and the Caribbean. The problem with
installations like this is the footprint of the satellite used
to broadcast NOAAPORT (Americom GE-4); it is tuned for the CONUS.

You probably have this link already, but I feel like I need to include
it nonetheless:

>Thanks for your time,

I would be interested in what you find out in your investigations.
