The American Meteorological Society's Summer community meeting will be
taking place August 8-11, 2011 in Boulder, Colorado. The meeting's theme
is "Building a Stronger Weather and Climate Enterprise — Keeping the Economy Moving."
From the meeting announcement:
The national and global Economies have been reeling in recent times
from major setbacks from various causes—not the least of which are
those created by weather and climate phenomena. The entire weather
and climate enterprise, which includes provider and user segments,
has much to offer in recovering and building vibrant global economies.
The Nationwide Network of Networks (NNoN) initiative has laid out a path
forward in the United States to harness the power of multiple
observing systems serving a multitude of users.
If you haven't registered already and plan to be in Boulder during the meeting, you can register at the door. Complete information is available at the 2011 AMS Summer Community Meeting site.
Unidata's Linda Miller will be attending the meeting and will be presenting a talk titled "Towards Open Weather and Climate Services: A Unidata Academic Perspective" during the NOAA Environmental Information Services Working Group session (session 7, Wednesday August 10, 8am-1pm).
